Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
Money Accountability
A husband shot his wife and then shot himself. They were going through a divorce. The wife's sister was the beneficiary of the life insurance and she was also the one the wife wanted to raise the children (3). She has 2 children of her own. The sister shows alot of preference. When they go on family vacation the three girls have to stay with their grandparents because the three girls do not get near as much as the biological children at christmas, birthdays, etc. The youngest child, 6 does not understand the differences just yet. The oldest (16) pretty much speaks her mind, so she does not get picked on as much. The middle one is the one that is suffering the most. She is seeking approval and seeking to be included as a family member. The oldest one does not understand where the money is going too. Each child is entitles to I believe $1300.00 per month, but when the children ask for new shoes they are told that they don't have the money. The oldest wants her grandparents to question where the money is going too. Can anyone request validation of where the money is going? The uncle, started his own company and is not currently working any jobs. The aunt quit her job to take care of the kids. All kids are in school.

Re: Money Accountability
They are probably receiving social security for the children. As such, they are supposed to keep a separate accounting of the money received. Is there another relative that is interested in custody and willing to challenge the current custodial arrangement? I would be happy to assist in answering any of your other questions.
