Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
non-responsive attorney
In July of 2008 I retained an attorney to represent me for the filing of child support and visitation papers. It is now February of 2009 and the papers are still not filed, though they are extremely simple and there is no contesting by the other party. In December I received the first draft of the papers, and asked that the health insurance line on the child support be fixed, but this simple change is still not done. Do I have any recourse? I am tempted to drop my representation and work directly with my child's mother's attorney to get the papers finally filed, but I have already paid my extremely non-responsive attorney.

call the attorney's office and let them know you plan to file a complaint with the State Bar Association if you do not get a response within a defined time period
