Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Reverting to maiden name

I just want to take back my maiden name from a divorce that happened 10-1/2 years ago appx. I have been single ever since, I have a 12 year old son. The father didn't want me to have him, and I might want to change his name as well. The bottom line is how much for me only and how much for his as well. Who would be best to handle something this? A Regular attorney or can I do it, I'm sure they have more important things to attend to.

Re: Reverting to maiden name

you need to see an attorney if the child was the child of your x husband, or the child was born during your marriage to your x husband, otherwise check with your local probate court regarding name change and advise them of the child and its relation to your x husband.
