shared custody of orphaned granddaughter

3/29/07 single daughter killed herself leaving behind 5 year old in Alabama. My ex, her Grandfather obtained custody as I live in CA. How can I obtain legal visitation and/or shared custody

You will have to go to court where the child resides and file papers.
