Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
I am a single mother with a seven year old child. Her father has not had any contact with her for the last five years and only a handful of times before then. I hired a lawyer in March of 2008 to terminate his parental rights. My lawyer refused to try this as my first resort and continued to try to get me to sue the father for child support which I refused. This case finally went to court in July of 2009. The judge is still in deliberation and I now owe a hefty sum to my lawyer even though my case has not been resolved and my childs father has yet to contact me. What should be my next action? All I want is closure.

You can ask your attorney to move the court to make a ruling. Are you sure there is not some reason the court has not ruled? You might also work out some payment plan with your attorney. Trying something like this is expensive.
