Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
My sister is pregnant. The father is in the air force. They are not together and he is harrassing her about custody and not helping financially, in any way. Does the JAG office appoint the child an attorney concerning custody and child suppor? Or does my sister have to obtain her own attorney? Her income is low and most attorneys are asking for at least $1500 dollars.

The JAG office will not appoint an attorney to work against their own serviceman. If you want child support, you'll probably have to sue him, and that is definitely best done by hiring your own lawyer. Think of it as an investment. A couple thousand bucks is a small price to pay for years of getting your child the support you deserve. Also, if they were never married, you could try Family Court.
