Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

my sister is in the process of going to rehab and will be trying to get her son back. The case was closed (i think), if so, what type of motion would need to be filed to reopen the case........or would i need to file a petition?

If the case is closed, she would need to complete rehab and become stable in housing and employment. Once that occurs, she would file a petition for custody.
