Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
Spouse of disabled veteran desperately needs advice.
My husband of 14 yrs. is a DAV who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and Paranoia before we were married. I didn't find out until after we were married what his disability really was. He informed me that he has filed for a divorce. I have been unemployed for several yrs. now due to 4 surgeries and medical complications. During my time of unemployment I enrolled in home study courses and received my H.S.diploma and am currently studying to be a med. transcriptionist. My problem is that my health insurance will be dropped as soon as the divorce is final, and I have health problems that require me to take daily medicines and have regular check-ups. I don't have the finacial means to find a place for my daughters and I to live, or hire a lawyer, much less buy insurance to cover pre-existing conditions. My husband wants a quick divorce with both of us using his lawyer, but I'm not sure that is the best thing for me to do.

You need to consult with an attorney. If you cannot afford one, you need to contact Legal Services Corporation or your local or state bar association and ask about their free lawyer programs.
