Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
Unauthorized search of credit report by ex-spouse's wife
In a recent review of inquiries made to my credit report, I noticed that amid all of the promotional bank card inquiries, one inquiry was made from the company that my ex-husband's wife works for. This company is a cable service provider that I do not subscribe to, and, would not subscribe to knowing the 'new wife' works there. I called the cable company and was told that the only time they make credit inquiries is for new subscriber information. If the 'new wife' made the inquiry without my consent, or her company's direction, what recourse should be considered. My personal credit information is none of the 'new wife's' business. I am livid just thinking that she would do this. I am having the cable company make inquiries to determine if, in fact, she was the one that made the credit report inquiry.

There could be an invasion of privacy.
Don't know if any crime was committed. One question that needs to be answered is whether you have been damaged. You need to sit down and speak with an attorney.
