Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Visitation

I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant and the father left 3 months ago and he nor his family have offered to help in any way. What visitation rights will they have once the baby arrives?

Re: Visitation

I agree with Mari. There are really no visitation rights until the judge awards them. Please note that "visitation" differs from "custody."

Re: Visitation

depends - you did not state if you were married or not. Of course if you are married, they still would have to go to court to get visitation, just as you would have to do so to get child support. If you are not married, the father has to register with the putative father's registry at DHR in order to make a claim. He still could go and file for visitation at court, just as you still would have to file for child support.
