Under alabama law, do alabama law allow rental and leasing stores to bring criminal charges if they can show the customer intended to sell or pawn merchandise or defraued them?

Yes. Section 13A-8-141 within the Code of Alabama covers such a crime.

If the value of the merchandise was under $500, it is a misdemeanor. However, if the value of the leased/rented merchandise was over $500 it's a felony.
