Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama
Detained at door
I had finished shopping at a retail store . When leaving an alarm went off. Because the cashier had failed to deactivate an item . They would not let me leave until I allowed them to search my bags . They did not find any thing that was not paid for . Is there any legal action i can take .

Did they confine you to a room for any length of time?
Since they let you go, I would just not shop there anymore and tell all your friends not to, either. Write a letter to the President of the company telling him what happened.
Reality check.

Rude as it is, the retailer does have a limited right to search and detain under these cirumstances.
