Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

judgement against me in small claims court

my ex-mother-n-law won a judgement against me in small claims court. I work parttime at a local restaraunt and am a full time college student. i have a mortgage, bills etc.... I can not afford to pay the total amount at once. The only thing I own outright is my car. Can they take my car? What do I need to do? i thought about appealing because it is actually my ex-husbands debts and this was all just a way to hurt me, but I would rather just be done with all of them. What are my rights in this matter? I know this woman and she will immediately start to harrass me. How do I handle that? Can I ask the court to help set up a payment plan?

You can appeal the judgment to circuit court. If you don't want to do this, the court should help you set up payments, otherwise, she can have your wages garnished. You could always add your ex husband as a party, so he would have to pay also.
