Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

Is someone liable for another person's property if it become inoperable during t

I let someone borrow my car. I advised her that she will need to check the oil at least once a week, and that she will need to put oil in it if it needs it. The car became inoperable during her possession. It needs a motor. There was no written contract regarding repairs or anything else. Is she liable for the damages? She used the car for one month.

It depends on what she did for that month and what you may be able to prove she did or did not do which caused the problem. She might only be responsible for the pro-rata share of the damage (i.e.: she used it for one month out of 30 months so she would be responsible for 1/30th of the damages). It may also depend on the age of the vehicle, mileage, previous damage, etc.
