Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

I"m a paving contractor in mobile alabama... I did a paving job for a company out of lousianna..They still owe me $5000.00.I have a contract, they signed sayin the balance was $5000.00. Can i file a lean against the property where I did the job? I don"t have the cash to hire a lawyer. What can I do?Lawyers I talked too wants $1500.00 dallars up front to sue, and I don"t have it right now.

If you can't afford a lawyer you can file the suit yourself. You must be careful about filing liens, because if you do so wrongfully you will be liable for damages. Good luck
