Recovery of property

I purchased two vehicles, one with my ex wife as a co-signer and the other without.I want to get my exwife vehicle due to her not paying the car note. The police will not allow me to get it unless i give her my other vehicle. Have they overstepped their bounds and made a judgement that is for the courts to decide and how do i get my other vehicle back, it was loaned to her out of need for her to keep a job.

I no longer can afford her being late on the payments and need to recover the vehicle.

police overstrpped but you still need to get ownership to you and would have to do something to get legal title in you alone or she can get back from you same as you take from her. need to sue on contract for her payments
