Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama
Constructive Discharge
I have been with this company for 11 years in Management as Office Administrator. The corportate office hired 4 additional employees from our competitor and brought them in to my office. We moved to larger space. Had a meeting to discuss that these 4 new emp.answered to me and I was their direct supervisor along with my other two admin.employees. Two weeks later someone from the corp. office came down and informed me that these new people would not be answering to me ---they work in my office but won't answer to me and I was not their supv. One of the new employees were brought in making more than I make and she let me know what they were paying her --taunting me about it. I turned in a two week notice and they asked me to leave immediately. Is there anything I can do or will I be elgible to collect UEMP Compens? I do not have a contract.

Re: Constructive Discharge
It doesn't particularly sound like constructive discharge, and you haven't alleged a specific illegal reason as to why they would want to discharge you. Nevertheless, you have some rights and I have some concerns about your treatment and would like to talk to you. I am presently out of the country but will be back in the office on Monday. Send me an email at [email protected] and I can respond more fully and maybe we can talk.
