Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Guns and employment

Hello,

I have heard that at the age of 18, as long as it is for an occupational use only, you can carry a weapon such as a handhun. And I would also like to know about vehicle lighting laws. I have had several different police officers tell me different things. some tell me that you can have red lights in your personaly owned vehicle and some say that you can't. if you could answer me these questions you will not only be answering my question but alot of other peoples also.

Thanks,

Blake

Re: Guns and employment

Well, a private citizen may carry a concealed handgun in Alabama only upon receiving a license from the county in which he or she lives to carry a concealed handgun. If you are a deputy sheriff or police officer, of course you can carry a concealed weapon as part of your duties. As for the red lights, it is illegal for any vehicle (unless it's an "authorized emergency vehicle) to display a red light that can be seen from directly in front of the vehicle (Al Code 32-5-241(d)(2)). In addition, if one were to use such a light to attempt to pull someone over or to otherwise impersonate a police officer, it would be a felony.
