Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama
On Jan. 26, 2016 I was granted a leave by my employer SEC Group (Pizza Hut) to care for my mother whom had recently had a stroke. Unfortunately do to issues with family members I decided I would cut my leave short and return to work. On Feb. 15, 2016 I informed my Area Coach (Brandi Foreman) I wanted to return to work. On Feb. 27, 2016 I informed Pizza Hut again. On Feb. 22, 2016 at 11:08pm I called my Store Manager (Kristie Kyles) and asked about returning to work. I was told that the Area Coach (Brandi) said I could not return. Before this happened; I was told that to return to work all I would need to do is to let Brandi know when I wanted to return. I have since been told that I was terminated due to high customer complaint. I have never had a verbal or written warning about the complaints and this was the first time I was made aware of the complaints. Also during my employment I was constantly praised for my work performance and was assured employment would be long term if work performance continued. Also was led to believe I would get a pay raise and even qualify for bonuses. I live in the state of Alabama which is an at-will state but due to the events described above; I would like to know if I was wrongfully terminated.
