Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

leaving a job under duress

as a supervisor i was not allowed to supervise. the manager would screem when things was not done but if i told one of my people to do it and they didnt want to he would tell them they didnt have to. one employee threatened to poison co-workers but when i told the manager he only laughed. one of the employees told me that if he had anything done to him that he would sue me.the manager forced me to quit. is there any thing that i can do. one of the other employees was mad because he was not being paid for overtime. the manager was threatning to fire me if i didnt keep things running smooth. he just wouldnt let me do my job the way it needed to be done. i worked for six years at this place and as many as 3500 hours of overtime that i was never paid.

Re: leaving a job under duress

If you have an overtime claim, I'd be very interested but need a lot more information. Overtime claims can be quite good, but they are probably going to try to claim that you were a "manager". This is a typical ploy to avoid paying overtime. Courts will look to your actual job duties and not to your title or supposed authority that you were never allowed to use. There are important time limits here because of the way the statute of limitations work (it's basically running right now and every day you waste you lose that day's overtime. In any event, please give me a call and I'll be happy to discuss this with you further.
