Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Salary employee

I am a salary employee and was hired as such. I am often required to work more than my 40 hours per week. I am not given any type of compensation for this ''overtime''. Does any law required that I be paid or given any type of compensation for the extra time I put in?

Re: Salary employee

Whether you are entitled to overtime depends on your industry and the type of work you do, and how much money you make, and how much money your employer's business grosses in revenue (not profits). This is a very complicated area of the law, but one that I like a lot. If they are violating the law then you win and they lose - there's little gray area about it. I practice in Birmingham, just up the road from Prattville. If you would like to talk further, please give me a call at 205-458-1100, or an email at [email protected]. I would need a lot more info to tell whether they have violated the law or not.
