severance pay
I was recently terminated I was offered a small amount of severance and the company stated that they would not prevent me from collecting unemployment insurance, that's nice but I found employment the same day so I won't collect unemployment insurance and I think the severance should be a bit more......should it and how much should it be? I was employed as a manager for 1 year and 8 months and I only had continued success with the company and this imformation is documented.

There are no laws requiring an employer to pay severance pay. If you have a written contract that provides for severance pay in this instance, that would control. But there is simply no requirement that they pay you any severance pay regardless of how good a job you did.
If you were discriminated against on the basis of race or sex, that's another issue. If that is the case you may not want a severance pay as you would sign away your rights.
