Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

off time

my employer told me that i am required to work throughout the months from may until september without any off time, no exceptions, (sick, or vacation). Is this legal for him to require me to work without allowing me to take the vacation time that i have accumalated.

Re: off time

Yes and no. Under Alabama law you have few protections as a worker. You can be fired for taking vacation. However if you have been injured on the job, you cannot be fired - that is a worker's compensation violation. If FMLA applies (more than 50 employees at your job site, you've worked there full time for more than 1 year)then you cannot be terminated for taking time off to deal with a serious medical condition.

But pretty much anything else, they can fire you for.

Good luck!
