apartment lease termination rights

I received a sudden job transfer. I then gave notice July 1 to vacate an apartment by the end of July, I actually vacated and an inspection was done July 23; the lease says 60 days to terminate. Since I gave notice as soon as I received a job transfer, am I obligated to pay the next month's rent? There must be some sort of tenant rights of protection in a situation such as this?

Does AL law apply to this? Do they have to find a new tenant to relieve last month's rent of lease?

Yes, you are obligated to pay the next month's rent. Your sudden job change is your problem, not your landlord's problem. A landlord should not be made to run their business at the whims of various business possibilities.

Yes, the landlord has a duty to fill the apartment asap and minimize their damages, but this doesn't affect your requirement to give 60 days notice. I recommend that you pay what you owe and be done with it.
