Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama

I fell at work on the clock and broke my shoulder pretty good. The company does not have workers comp and is refusing to help with the medical bills and has only paid a minimal salary for a limited time while I am off work. Do I have the right to sue them?

It depends on the number of employees the employer had at the time of your injury as to whether they are required by law to have workers compensation. Then if not, they should at least have premises liability insurance to cover any injury of a worker or a visitor. If I can help you, please contact me as more information is needed. At most, they are responsible for your medical expenses and the premises liability should cover that; and you can sue.

Most Alabama companies are required to have workers compensation and if they do not, and they should, then you can recover more from them than if they had the comp coverage. It depends on the company's size. In addition to covering your medical treatment, depending on the extent of your injury, you might be entitled to compensation. Both of my partners handle work comp claims and if you have any further questions, feel free to call and I will refer you to them. Good luck.
