Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama
After filing a accident report at my university from falling down the stairs a campus police officer said due to the schools negligence of not replacing the only elevator in one of our buildings that has been in need of replacement for over 4 years I should get sue the school. The elevator company is an off shoot of my dads company and can be verified that the elevator is damaged and needs to be replaced not just fixed. I have a pre existing knee injury that does not allow for me to use the stairs unless I absolutely have to and with the fall I twisted my ankle and did more damage to my knee landing me in the ER and a trip orthopedic surgeon who has found that i will need surgery to fix the damage done. I am not one to throw lawsuits out like candy and I am not looking for money but I can't get to my class on the 2nd floor of the building due to the crutches and knee brace that stretches from my ankle to my hip. I might add that the school in question has spent millions on a new round about driveway and a soon to be wellness center raising tuition yet they wont replace an elevator.

Sounds like you may have a claim for lack of access due to disability if stairs are the only way to get to class.
