Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama
Insured refusing to contact ins comp. I was in a car accident over two weeks ago where a teenage boy rear-ended the vehicle behind me causing her to rear-end me. Well, my car as well as the car behind me have both been seen by the adjuster of his insurance (Travelers). They are stating that both vehicles are total losses. Travelers cannot get in touch with their insured (he is not answering or returning their calls. He hung up on me the couple times i tried to contact him.). Travelers is stating to me that they cannot and will not go any further on our claims until they get in touch with him, regardless of what the police report says (100% his fault). How can I go about getting them to pay out on my car, and what other amounts can I recoup from them for this inconvenience? I can't afford a rental, or to see a physician for my sore neck.

The problem you have is that the insurance company could deny coverage if their insured won't cooperate. If the boy is under 19, he's a minor, and his parents are likely the owner of the policy. You probably need to file suit to get the case in the right hands.
