Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama
I recently was involved in a physical fight. I'm 36, have a clean record and have not been in a fight since highschool. A guy told me to F#*! Off!! which resulted in me spitting in his face. He NAILED me square in the nose and I went to the floor. I was out for a second and awoke with extremely blurred vision and he atop of me still swinging. The guy is much larger than I am and I began fighting back. Somehow I ended up on top with only a swollen nose and he had a gashed nose. I believe he hit the leg of a chair during the fight. He ended up at the ER and said he's going to sue. How bad off am I legally?

You could call your homeowner's insurance agent to ask about this but if he started the fight, that is, he threw the first punch, he assumed the risk of getting injured. I don't think you have liability here. It wouldn't hurt to see if there was anyone in the bar who witnessed the incident so you can get their statement before it grows old.
