Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama

hello,

My name is Sydni Lewis and I am 20 years old. Unfortuantly, when I was 18 years old, I was involved in a car accident that involved myself and another vehicle. The vehicle I was driving that was involved in the accident was not mine. It belonged to my boyfriend at the time, but he did NOT have current insurance on the vehicle. At the time, I did not have a driver's license, but since then, none of this has shown up on my driving record, even though this incident occured 2 years ago. Since then I've recieved my driver's license. I'm not sure if I am at fault, since the vehicle was not mine and I was instructed to run an errand for my boyfriend. Recently I have recieved paperwork through the mail that I am being sued for the costs of damages done to the other vehicle involved. Let me remind you that I am the only individual being sued, not my ex boyfriend, even though the vehicle was his, and in his name. I really need some legal advice dealing with this issue, because I have no idea where to begin in handling this situation. Any advice would be very much appreciated from you. If you don't mind at your earliest convience, could you PLEASE give some advice on this situation. PLEASE & THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

SINCERLY,

S.LEWIS

You drove so it is YOUR accident. You are responsible (or not - depending on the facts). Go TO A LAWYERS OFFICE to discuss this. If the lawsuit was filed OVER two years after the accident (EVEN ONE DAY) it is time barred (but you would have to assert this in your legal response). GO SEE A LAWYER.
