Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Alabama

Boundary dispute resolution

My family has owned 80 acres (1/4 1/4)for 50+ years. The area has become quite valuable and a neighbor has helped himself to a portion of the property. I have a recent (2001) survey. Neighbor is crazy and threatening when confronted. Options for resolution? One to one is an impossibility due to mental instability of offending party.

Said neighbor is now attempting to build on property including what appears to belong to me. What steps can be taken to halt his continued trespass until such time as boundary can be established/accepted. Neighbor has removed 50 year old fence and put up his own over my property.

Help! Surveyors quickly make it known that they will not get involved except to take lots of money and provide lines on the page. I am afraid to walk on and enjoy my own property for fear this lunatic will attack me (again)much less attempt to draw any type of line. Option #1 to ignore it and hope it would go away ~Failed. Option #2 Attempt to discuss with offender~ Failed.

NOW WHAT?? THanks!

Re: Boundary dispute resolution

Well, it is obviously a trespass. You have to have a new survey done, and then file suit in court.
