Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Alabama

I brought a piece of property from an individual, I have the bill of sell as well as a witness signture. I never got the land deeded into my name this all took place in 1998, in 2005 the individual pass this life, and left is estate to his family at the time I couldnt locate the bill of sell but I have since then. Do I have a legal right to the property I paid for?

The questions here are two: 1) Did the document you describe as a "Bill of Sell" convey the property? In otherwords, does it meet the requirements of a document that will convey as a deed? This is not a simple question and would depend on the document itself. Question 2. If the "Bill of Sell" does not meet the requirements of a deed, does it meet the requirements of a document that will support a contract to sell the land. This is not a simple question either. In any event, you have a lawsuit on your hands. You should get to an attorney with this and see what your rights are. Finally, when did the person die? Was an estate opened? Did you make a claim against the estate? Good Luck
