Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Alabama
teacher questioned about sexual harassment of student
I was called to my principal's office and asked to read over a list of 10 items. These items were questions/allegations of my solicitation of a student for sexual favors. The principal, asst. principal, a guidance counselor and a deputy sheriff were present. The questions were offensive and unfounded. I was asked to put into writing my responses. I was completely unaware that I was being ''investigated'' for any such actions. Since then I have been questioned by my students if I am being fired, and if I did ''do'' this young man. Also some of my fellow teachers have allowed classroom discussion of this event. I am finding it hard to concentrate and do my job. I feel labeled and slandered. I did not sexually harass anyone. What are my rights in this situation?
