Legal Question in Traffic Law in Alabama

I was charged with Speeding 81 in a 65. The unmarked State Trooped was illegally parked on a bridge will using his radar to screen for speeders. Parking on any bridge or elevated structure upon a highway is a direct violation of Code of Alabama 1975 section 32-5a-137 sub part G.

Are State Troopers exempted from this law?

I'm assuming you're asking because you think it might have some bearing on your speeding charge? It doesn't, because whether or not you are guilty of the offense hinges on whether or not you were, indeed, travelling at 81 mph on a stretch of road governed by a 65 mph speed limit. The trooper's actions don't come into play at all.

But if it makes you feel any better, yes, police officers in official vehicles and acting in the scope of their official duties are exempt from normal traffic laws.
