Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Beneficiary rights

I am one of several listed beneficiaries to the estate of my deceased grandmother, my father is the trustee and he refuses to allow me to use the funds for the purchasing of a home... I am only 17 now, but I will be 18 in March and I will be attending college away from home. My question is can I override his authority as trustee if he is not allowing me to use the funds to my true benefit. The funds have been transferred to a high interest money market... any solution would be much appreciated.

Re: Beneficiary rights

You know, this depends entirely upon the terms of your grandmother's trust. You really need to get the trust reviewed by a lawyer if you want to know what your rights are. Anything that I say now would be purely speculative. If there is no trust and what you are saying is that your father is the Personal Representative of the estate, you need to get the will reviewed by a lawyer in order to know what you can expect and when.
