Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Death of Grandmother

my deceased husband was raised by his grandparents and they adoped him but not his older brother, whom is still alive. in 1999 his grandmother died in Ala. She owned property and was well off. My adult children were not notified of her death they found out when they looked her up several years. They can not find anything in Probate , and thier Uncle refuses to tell them except her house is rented out we all lived a state away. What could be going on?

Re: Death of Grandmother

Your husband may have been a beneficiary under his parents' wills and might even be considered an heir if his adoption was valid. If the executor did not name your husband in the probate proceeding, you may challenge it. I suggest contacting an attorney in the county where the property is to discuss representation. www.naela.org is a good place to go to do a search.
