debts of deceased spouse
If your spouse dies and his name is the only one on a credit card is the surviving spouse responsivle to pay off the balance on the credit card?

If you were not on the credit application and if you were not on the account, then no, you have no moral or legal obligation to pay off your late spouse's debts. The probate process is designed to allow creditors an opportunity to file their claims against the estate.
