Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

My grandmother left her house to my uncle and my mother. My mother passed away so it was left to her heirs which is myself, my brother and my uncle. When it sells, what are the tax requirements on my portion which will probably only be about $25,000.

Thank you!

The information is a little limited here, but if you are asking if there in income tax payable on an inheritance, the answer is no. There may be other taxes which are payable by the estate (deed tax etc) but it's impossible to say without knowing the whole story. Estate Tax is only owed when an estate is large enough to exceed the exclusion allowed. Because I don't know the size of the estate or the date the person died, I can't speculate on what that would be, but unless the estate is quite large there probably is no tax owed. Seek the advice of an attorney and get these questions answered. This answer is based on the limited information given and is for general information purposes only.

Legal advice is informed advice based on specific facts and knowledge of the complete situation. Therefore, this does not constitute legal advice, no attorney-client relationship is created and it should not be regarded as a substitute for direct consultation with an attorney based on the specific details of your situation.
