Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama
how long should I wait for my sister's lawer to call me back concerning my parent's estate? I called a week ago and was told he was busy and he would call me back. I called again today and again the woman who answered said he was busy with a client and he would return my call. I asked if she could tell my an aproximate time and she said no. Should I be concerned. My sister has always believed she should get everything even though my parents always told us that everything would be divided equally between us. My father was the last parent alive and he could read on a kindergarten or 1st grade level, and I am afraid he could have signed papers based on my sister's advise without knowing the true nature of what he was signing. The probate was opened in decalb county, Fort Payne, Ala. but my father always maintained duel residency. He had both Ala. & TN Dr. licenses and lived equally between the two states

I am not sure the question is really how long you should wait for your sister's attorney to call you back, as much as it is, is their enough money at stake, that "your attorney" should be contacting your sister's attorney, given the additional concerns you have about her beliefs that she should have received everything. Often times, seeking redress after the event has occurred is not very rewarding. If a probate estate was openend, then even with your concerns about what papers your dad may have signed, their were enough probate assets to justify opening the estate. You can get a copy of your Dad's Will from the Probate Court. Consider hiring an attorney to assist you with this matter.
