Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

My mother was listed as a "missing heir" in her father's will. He passed in 1995 in Birmingham, AL. She wants to know if a guardian was named for her, and how this was resolved. A half sibling has told her she sould persue this. She had been searching for her father for decades and now, it seems he was searching for her. Any help out there? Much appreciated!
