I was named in a will to receive one half of the balance of the insurance money after the final expenses were paid. What is considered final expenses, and when should I expect to recieve the money?

Final expenses include burial, medical/hospital expense, taxes due, and so on. Normally however the beneficiary designation on the policy itself determines who receives life insurance proceeds, not the will itself. Contact the executor of the estate. He/she is obligated to report to you on this. If they refuse, ask your attorney to demand an accounting.
