Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Parent death

When a parent dies is there an obligation for the children to notify their sibling? My parents to do not want my brother to know anything about them. (it is stated in their wills and it is specified that he will be left nothing) I wanted to know my obligation in obeying their wishes. Can my brother sue me for not notifying him of their deaths?

Thank you

Re: Parent death

In Alabama, when a person dies, all heirs must be notified so they have a chance to contest the will. If you do not notify your brother when either of your parents die, the Probate Court will not allow your case to move forward. If you have told the court that he did not exist, you need to clear that up or else you might be held in contempt of court.
