Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Paying a deceased's medical bills

My mother recently passed and left my brother and I her home. It was in her name only. Unfortunately, she had a lot of medical bills. We would like to keep the house. My question is will we have to sell the house to pay her medical bills and any other bills she may have had (e.g. creditc cards) or is that not our responsibility now that she is gone?

How did she leave you the house? Was there a will? Are there any other estate assets? There are a few possible alternatives available to you, but they tend to be fact specific.
