You need to determine dates as closely as possible as to when each person died. You need to know which county they died in and you need to determine if any probate was conducted on prior estates. Most of all you need to spend a couple of hundred dollars for a lawyer who can advise you. This forum is great for general questions but your question hinges on details and all you can get here are generalities. Good luck!

First of all, did your father have a will? If not, as his children, you would be in line to inherit if there was in fact enough to inherit after debts and other owed sums were paid. What exactly did the form you signed say? Regardless, unless you went through a whole procedure of having your signatures notarized, etc., it would be very hard to sign away your inheritence. Even then, it would still be hard to do. You need to talk to the probate office in your county to find out if a will was probated or not. It is hard to really answer this question without knowing the full details; however, I hope this will be a start. If you have further questions and are in or near Birmingham, Alabama, call my office and I will glad to speak with you concerning this situation.
