Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

I am in the state of Alabama. I own property that is in my name only. I want to leave it for my husband to live on until his death then the property to be sold & divided among my children. Upon my death, can my husband change what happens to that property? For example change my will or create a will of his own differing from my own concerning the property? Can he sign over the property to one child, even before his death? And if legally not, if he does anyway & that child puts that property up to bond out of jail or owe a huge hospital bill, can the property be taken when it should not have been signed over to that child? Can my other children contest the actions not carried out by my will?

The lawyer who drafted your will for you would be the best person to ask about these issues. If you haven't yet hired an attorney to draft your will, these are all issues to bring up in that meeting. Yes, all of these concerns can be addressed and you can protect your estate from all of these dangers if you discuss the issues with your lawyer.
