If the will is not probated how long do we have to wait before selling or building on land that we inherited?

The probating of the will "cuts off" claims from 3rd parties, so it protects you from losing the property years down the road if someone should show up like in a soap opera where someone's long lost son from the war shows up and wants his/her share. If you want to take that risk, go ahead anytime and sell the property, but my guess is that a title company won't insure the property unless the will is probated.
