Do wills in alabama need to be notorized?

They don't need to be notarized, but you do have to have two witnesses to the testator's signature. However, in order to make the will "self-proving", you must have the proper language and a notary. Down the line, it is much easier to have it self-proving so you don't have to locate one of the witnesses to admit the will to probate.
