Legal Question in Workers Comp in Alabama
workman's compensation in alabama
My husband lost his thumb at work using a skilsaw without a guard. Is he entitled to PPI in Alabama? He has workman's compensation through his employer.

He may have a claim against the company for the removal of a safety device - which may remove the limits of workers comp. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me.

Yes, the loss of a thumb is what is called a scheduled injury and, barring some unusual circumstance, your husband should be entitled to benefits. Also, he may have a personal injury action,if for example, someone else had removed the guard. Feel free to contact me to discuss this further.
