Legal Question in Business Law in Alaska
Using military installation names on an e-commerce website
I'm building an e-commerce website wanting to use US military installation names as a search/selection criteria. By clicking on the military installation name closest to you, you will be able to take part in a service that I offer on my website at that location. Is it leagal to use military installation names in this manner on my website? I'm not using the installation name as advertisement, but just as a way to pin point a specific location. Thank you very much for your expert advice!
Eric

Re: Using military installation names on an e-commerce website
I know of no reason why you couldn't. As a general rule, government installation names are treated like any other geographic name, and in the public domain for trademark purposes.
If First National Bank Alaska can have an Elmendorf Branch, why can't you?
