Claim of Lien

What is the time limit for collecting on a lien filed under A.S *34.35.070 is it 6 months,1 year or 2 years. And if the time has expired what can be done to extend the time to collect or re-file.

Generally, suit must be filed to forclose the lien within 6 months of its filing. This deadline may be extended another 6 months if a proper notice is recorded within the original 6 month period.

Once the lien has expired, there is no way to extend it, however a suit on the underlying debt may still be filed within the applicable statute of limitations, usually 3 years.
