Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alaska

Back in 05, I was coerced into writing bad checks, although I accept full responsibility. When I recently applied for a job and was told that a background report had been red flagged, I looked into it and discovered that charges of theft value-2 500-24999, bad check for 500-24999 and lastly a bad check for 1-500 was listed. These charges are from Alaska and I live in Texas now. Since I left Alaska to attend my fathers funeral. I have been pulled over for speeding but never arrested for these out of state charges. I dont understand why I wasnt arrested.So I assume that I need to get a lawyer from the state of Alaska to represent me and turn myself into the local police station here in Texas for extradition? What should I do?

You should retain an attorney from Alaska to assist you with this matter. You can also hire a Texas attorney who may be able to help you get an Alaska attorney to assist you with this matter. If you just turn yourself into local police, you may end up being held in the local jail waiting for the Alaska prosecutor to decide what he/she wants to do with your case. The first thing you need to do is hire a lawyer from Alaska to see if the cases can be resolved from that end, without extended jail time from you. If you turn yourself in locally, and there are active warrants, you may sit for a while in a Texas jail, while Alaska decides what to do.
